The Santa Fe Railway Purchased 83 GE Dash 8 40 BW's in two groups.  Locomotives 500-559  [500 class] were purchased in 1990 and locomotives 560-582 [560 class] were purchased in 1992.  500 class locomotives are rated at 4000 horsepower and 560 class locomotives are rated at 3800 horsepower.  All ATSF/BNSF Dash 8 40 BW's weigh 289,000 pounds.  The following photos are part of a larger collection seen on the QStation Web-site at  the Dash 8 40BW Archive
