The Bakersfield Sub. is that portion of the BNSF (former ATSF) Railway that links the San Joaquin Valley cities of Fresno (Calwa) and Bakersfield, CA.  For the most part, it is a tabletop flat stretch of railroad and as such it's not as exciting as mountain railroading.  Why then have a webpage dedicated to the Bakersfield Sub?  Quite simply because it was and is the closest place for me to watch and photograph ATSF and BNSF trains.
