The Southern Pacific Railroad operated a unit tank car train to transport crude oil, symbol BKDOU, between Saco, California (7 miles North of Bakersfield) and Dolores, California between September 1983 and October 1997. Much of the time this train existed it consisted of 6 blocks of 12 cars; with helper locomotives 48 cars deep in the train. This train was a daily movement over Tehachapi Pass and was know to many fans as the "Oil Cans" train
